Dau Go Island (Driftwood Island):
This island is situated on the south-west side of Halong bay, just 4km from Bai chay tourist Whalf. It has a peak of 189m, and seen from a distance, has the form of a throne embracingin its arm a lagoon of blue sea. the range of islands has three wide grottoes that maybe classified among the most beautiful in Halong bay. Thay are the Dau Go, Thien Cung and Thien long grottoes.
On the west side of the island is the zone of ba hang, the residence of the fishing people of Halong. Here the mountain island walls stretch vertically out of the water amongst picturesque scenery. On the islands there are many species of animals; irds, reptiles, and particular,yellow-hair onkeys. on sunny days they descend to the base of the island to look for food.
Tuan Chau Island ;
On the west side of Halong city it is Tuan Chau island, a schist island, very pretty, with a luxuriant forest, it has an area of 220 hecte, and to the east and south are two beaches endowed with very white and fine sand.
Tuan Chau is an important position at the entrance of the waterway system of Thang Long, Bach Dang and Van Don, and this is why it was formly military watch station. The office of feudal customs was also installed there.
The island also has many archaeological sites pertaining to the ancient Halong culture from 3,000 to 5,000 years ago.
Nowadays, one to go to Tuan Chau island via the 2km cement road from the main land. investment have been poured in to the island to turn it in to a modern tourist resort. It includes such fascinating extras as the dophin, sea lion and seal perfoming club, animal circus club, golf court, cutural-sports centre… villa in hill1 and hill 2 with 300 rooms, guest house, five villas near by the beach, 10 rooms in each,
In Tuan Chau, the octagonal house where president Ho Chi Minh rested when he visited Halong in 1962 now bcme his memorial house.
Trong Mai islet:
Trong mai islet is situated on the South-west side of Halong bay, 5km from tourist whalf near to Dinh Huong islet. in a somewhat large expanse of open sea, the islet seem to grow up from the bottom of the deep amerald waters. At sunset, the islets with the heighs of over 10m is bright red and in a somewhat tottery position. Their tiny legs support heavy bodies,and it appears that one strong wave could throw the two stone blocks into the sea. However, hundreds of millions of years have passed, and the Trong Mai islet is still there. The image of the islets is the Logo of Halong bay and Vietnam tourism.
Titov island:
Situated 14km south-east of Bai Chay tourist whalf lies small Titov island. it displays a beach shaped like a crescent moon, and the sand that has been washed to a snowy white by the lapping tide. on 22 November 1962, this tiny island had the honour of receiving a visit from astronaut Ghermann Titov, a hero of the former Soviet Union, accompanied by Ho chi Minh. To perpetuate the remembrance of their visit, Uncle Ho christened the place titov island. 35 years afterwards, on 22 june 1997, Titov returned to the island bearing his name. Deeply moved, he wrote in the souvenir book of the management committee of Halong bay; “My deepest thanks to destiny, which has allowed me come back to this tiny island”. It has becomea beach attracting many visitors.
Daube island:
Dau Be island is 500m from Hang Trai island to the east, and 28km from the Baichay touris whalf, in an archipelago comprised between th Tra ngu and Da Le island. it has an area 22,863sq m. and it is the highest peak reaches 139m, when speaking of the island, it is impossible not ot mention its beautiful Ba Ham lake.
Ngoc Vung island:
Ngoc Vung oe gem island, is a pretty site sitting between the Net and Phuong Hoang (Eagle) islands, in the Van Don district. Formerly, under the feudal Dynasties, this island zone contained a great quantity of rare and precious species of mother of pearls. At night, flourescent pearls would like up the whole region.
From above, Ngoc vung loke like beautiful velvet handkerchief with exquisite whites edgings; it seems to float on the water surface. on the east side of the island there is a 1km beach with pure white sand.At the centreis a luxuriant benjamin fig tree, it was under this tree that Ho Chi Minh stood and conversed with the population in 1962during a visit
During the war against US, the island belonged to front of outward island that served as protection for the eastern waterway.
It is also on the beach that many stone artefects were discovered in 1937, opening a string of excavations and archaeological research aiming at providing some explanation of the mysteries of the ancient Halong culture
Quan Lan Island:
Quan lan is a large island belongs to Van Don district, it has an area of 11 sq. km, 70km South-east of Bai chay tourist wharf, 30km from Cam Pha town and 35 km from Cua Ong wharf. it’s a part of an island range on the out side of the Bac Bo Gulf. Quan land island stretch toward East-West from the foot of Van Don range to Got mountain with many high mountains to the east barring waves and winds, protect the villages
The island is situated on an important navigation route that connect to China, Japan and Thailand and phillipines to Vietnam. Since 11th century, Quan lan had been one of the centres of the ancient commercial port of Van Don, which was animated and properous at the time. To day, there are still many vestiges like to the ancient commercial port. this also explains why the island, lying deep in the sea, has the large pagoda and archaeological sites seen today. On the island there is the Quan Lan communal house built in the 18th century, exceedingly beautiful and almost entirely preserved. Next to it is Quan Lan pagoda (Linh Quang Tu) whih is dedicated to Buddha and god Lieu Hanh. The pagoda also worships the statue of old Hu, a local person who made lots contributions to the construction of the pagoda. The statue feature a gentle and cheerful old woman,which adds an original character to the pagoda. Beside Quan Lan pagoda lies Nghe Quan Ong (Duc Ong) Shrine, which is dedicated to Pham Cong Chinh, a local people who participated in the historical Van Don battle against the Yuan invaders. He was later honored as a God.
Along two sides of the island are 10km of sandbanks. This is the endless resource for glass making which the sea gives to man and its also the extremely interesting tourism resoure in Halong.
To visit Quan Lan island, tourists are not only enjoyed the landscape but also take bathing in the two nice beaches; Son Hao and Dau Nui which have white sand, pure and blue sea waterand strong waves. On the coast tens of metters away from the beach stand very green wild pines, which further add to it original charm. guest house taking the shape od stilted houses, which hide themselves under the lush foliage of casuarinas to serve the travellers. Its pristine beauty and pure environment have made it a mecca for tourists.
Quan Lan island features a beautiful landscape, and at the same time has many valuable sea products such as octopuses, butterfish, markerel, holothurian, shrimp,and Sai sung.
Dinh Huong islet;
In the itinerary of Thien Cung – Dau Go – Titov, one finds Dinh Huong islet or Lu Huong (incenese burner islet) to the southwest of Dau go island. passing the Cho da (stone dog) islet and the Con meo islet(Cat), one sees an imposing stone Slade resting on two other small stone-stands blocked the way. The stone slab resembles a huge incense burner, which lines in the middle of the sea as a holy object to worship the Sky and Earth.
Dau Nguoi Islet;
From a far you can see a 25m islet, which reminds us of a huge Egyptian head with a big nose. Its chin lines close to the sea surface. many people associate it with the image of the Egyptian Sphinx. The Dau Nguoi islet in Halong bay, a masterpiece of nature, has its own poetic beauty as it lies amidst sea waters. The islet lies near by Luon cave, 13km away from tourist wharf.
Ba Trai Dao (Three peaches island):
This island consists of three small mountains with the height of 23m, sens from afar, resemble three peaches (Ba trai dao).
The island connects to a legend of about the romantic love between a youngest fairy who was very pretty with a young and poor fish man. Because of feeling in love with him, she stole three peaches from Heaven for him that if he ate, would give him eternal life allowing them to live together forever. [more...]
The King of the Heaven discovered the robbery and turned the peaches in to stone island. Chastised, the young fairy had to return.Today, Ba trai dao is a famous tourists attraction with three nice fairy beaches, romantic landscape. it is 22km from South – North of Bai Chay tourist Wharf.
Thien Nga islet (Swan islet):
The waters of Bai Tu Long bay, the stone islet is bobbing like an alluring and graceful swan (Thien Nga) a swan losing its herd. This stone swan has taken up countless time and rolls of film of tourist near and far.
Yen Ngua islet (saddle islet):
The Yen Ngua or saddle islet lies in Halong Bay, in the centre of the world heritage area. Nature has creatively shaped two picese of stone, one high and the other is lower, which are linked together to form an imposing rock, looking like a saddle. Boats can go through under eath. the whole rock resembles a sewing machince. how wonderful to have such a magnificent but elegant “cradle”, jutting some 10m above the sea surface.
Cho Da Islet (Stone Dog Islet):
In the itinerary of Thien Cung and Dau Go – Titov, after visiting Thien Cung and Dau Go, one needs 10 minutes boating to the Cho da islet or stone dog isle. Some 8m up the islet one can figure out a piece of stone in the shape of a dog sitting with its back to the sea, standing gurd for the safety of seagoing boats for millions of years.
Am islet (Kettle Islet):
On the route to Quan Lan – Ngoc Vung islands, Am rock or kettle islet is situated in Bai Tu Long Bay. An island jutting out of the sea waters, the teapot of the jade Emperor, who accidentally dropped it in to Halong so, its handle was broken.
Ngon Tay islet (Finger Islet):
On the way to Titov island, visitors see a stone rock resembling a thump jutting out of the sea. Nature has put the Ngon Tay (Finger) islet here as a reminder of many interesting extras in the discovery of Halong. .
Soi Sim Island:
Soi Sim is a soil island 700m away from Titov island, and 12km from Bai Chay tourist Wharf. In the island there are many green tree. The Halong Bay Management Board is going to build a system of service and ecological guest houses equipped with modern facilities. At present, a small beach has been improved and upgraded, adding more charm to the attractive holiday resort
Xep Islet (layer islet):
Xep islet or layer islet is a huge, multi layered, square piece of stone which look like an Egyptian pyramid built in the middle of the Bai Tu Long Bay, Cam pha Town
Su Tu Bien islet:
on the canoe route to Thien Cung and Dau Go grottoes, one should visit Sutu Bien islet or sea lion islet, which is 10 minutes away from Bai Chay tourist Wharf. Amidst the vast sea waters of Halong, you can recognize a high rock jutting from the sea, resembling a lion stretching.
Oan Islet (Truncated Sticky rice):
situatsd 300m away from Bai tho Mountain and 5km from tourist wharf, a 22 meter islet stands out in Bai Tu Long Bay. It has the shape of truncated sticky rice, which serves as an offering to Buddha. French tourists pay special attention to this rock as in 1992; a French famous actress came there to film some shots of the film Indochina. In the islet, some setting are preserved including the stone – paved road to the beach (often called the Slave Pier), the prisons, etc.
But islet (Pen islet):
Some 30minutes boating away from Con Coc islet on the way to Ba Trai Dao island, visitors can see a pen bobbing (But islet) in the sea waters. This constitutes a monument of knowledge Mother Dragon wanted to pass down to the present – day generations.
lying adjacent to the pen islet is a small attractive beaches. Tourists can anchor there to take a bath.
Con Coc islet (Toad islet):
Con coc or Toad islet is one of the most exquisite works nature has presented Halong. Just imagine,an 8m tall toad sitting to wait for rain admits the vastness of the sea. The Toad islet lies in the south – east of Halong Bay, 17km away from tourist Wharf.
Mat Qui islet (Monster head islet):
Boating past the Am islet about 20 minutes we can see Mat Quy islet which protrudes about 30-35m from the waters of Bai Tu Long Bay. Nature has carved the rock in the shape of a monster head, with a rough big nose standing out from a distorted face. From whatever angle, one still finds it horrible.
